Day 25 of 31
Kind to an enemy
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat. If he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
Talk about it
An enemy is someone who has been unkind to you. This verse says to help them anyway, even with something as simple as a drink of water. Being kind to someone who wasn't kind to you is hard, but God helps you do it. If someone is hurting you, tell a grown-up first; you can be kind and still stay safe.
Try it today
With a grown-up's help, do something kind for someone who has not been nice to you.
Ask at dinner
Why do you think God asks us to be kind even to people who are mean?
For the grown-up
Paul quotes this verse in Romans 12:20, and Jesus says “love your enemies” (Matthew 5:44). It is the opposite of getting even. Kindness to an enemy does not mean staying in a harmful situation; a child can be kind and still keep a safe distance.
