Day 27 of 31
Iron sharpens iron
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.
Talk about it
When you rub two pieces of iron together, they get sharper. Friends are like that: they help each other get better. A good friend helps you grow, and you can help them too.
Try it today
Help a friend or sibling practice something they are learning.
Ask at dinner
Who helps you get better at things? How?
For the grown-up
“Countenance” means face: friends shape who we become. Sharpening sometimes means honest words (27:6, “the wounds of a friend are faithful”). Teaching kids to say “good try, try this” is the gentle version of iron sharpening iron.
