Day 3 of 31

Trust God with all your heart

5Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Talk about it

Yahweh is God's own name. Trusting him with all your heart means leaning on him even when you can't see how things will work out. Your own ideas are small; God sees the whole path.

Try it today

When something feels hard today, stop and say, “I trust you, God.”

Ask at dinner

What is one thing you are worried about that we can give to God?

For the grown-up

“Don’t lean on your own understanding” asks us to keep thinking while refusing to make our own view the last word. “Make your paths straight” promises God’s guidance along the way; it does not promise an easy road. It is short enough for a five-year-old to say from memory in a week.
