Day 7 of 31

Write it on your heart

Bind them on your fingers. Write them on the tablet of your heart.

Proverbs 7:3

Talk about it

In this verse a father tells his child to keep his wise words very close, like a ring on your finger. God's words are the best words to keep that close. Writing them on your heart means learning them so well you never forget. A verse you know by heart goes everywhere with you.

Try it today

Pick one short verse from this month and say it every time you wash your hands today.

Ask at dinner

Which Bible verse do you already know by heart?

For the grown-up

Chapter 7 goes on to a warning about adultery meant for older readers; here we keep to its picture of memory. “Bind them on your fingers” echoes Deuteronomy 6, where God’s words are to be talked about at home, on the road, lying down and getting up. Memory is a family habit more than a school subject.
